Where in the world is Milfred?

Back in March, we posted this photo of customer Betheda Gramling holding one of our famous pink bags in Antarctica. It got us thinking: wouldn't it be fun to see our bags and sheep (Milfred) logo wherever our customers travel? (What? You never knew our sheep's name was Milfred? Our bad! Readers...Milfred. Milfred...readers.)

As you head off on your summer vacations, take a picture of your Sheepish bag "on location" and email it to us at sheepishblog@yahoo.com. Whether you're trekking overseas or spending a long weekend at Grandma's, we want to see where you take your projects. Our favorite photo will win a $50 Sheepish gift certificate!

Photos must be received by Saturday, August 10; winner will be announced on Tuesday, August 13. DEADLINE extended! You now have through Saturday, Aug. 31, to submit your photos. Winner will be announced on Tuesday, Sept. 3. We look forward to seeing what you come up with. Get creative, folks!

Felted soaps--now in more scents

We're glad to know so many of you love Regina DeMita's felted soap scrubbers as much as we do. These have been a big hit for us this spring and summer.

If you haven't tried them yet, or if you've already used up your first one, you're in luck. Regina dropped off a dozen more bars over the weekend and they're wonderful.

These ones have a new shape and cute new labels.

This batch includes a wide range of beautiful colors and many new fragrances: Cinnamon Roll, Chocolate, Black Raspberry Vanilla, Cedar Saffron, Island Fresh Gain, OMG Olive, Lavender in Mango Butter, PiƱa Colada, Agave Lime, and Oatmeal Milk & Honey. We also still have a few bars of two scents, Apple and Lavender, left from the previous batch.

The new bars are a bit bigger (about 6 oz.) but are still only $8.00. What a great deal for a unique handmade item from a talented local artisan!

It's on, folks! Our 3rd annual Stash Sale takes place 11am-5pm on Saturday and Noon-5pm on Sunday. Come in and score some great bargains. Please remember, Stash Sale purchases must be made with cash or check. We're just the middle man for these transactions and we don't want to incur any credit or debit fees.

Big thanks to everybody who came out for the Preview Party last night. We had a great time and we hope you did, too!

Setting up for the sale. Look at all those treasures just waiting to be discovered.
Mariele investigates one of the books for sale.
Carrie made some of her famous margaritas for the occasion. Yum!
The shopping frenzy begins!
Bibi needs to rest up from all the evening's excitement.
Looking forward to seeing a lot of you this weekend. We'll have some refreshments for you to enjoy while you shop (sorry, no more margaritas--those are GONE).

Welcome, foster kittens!

As many of you probably know, this time of year is kitten season, and the animal shelters are full to capacity with homeless critters. To help deal with the overflow, Dekalb County Animal Services has come up with a creative solution: they're recruiting local businesses to foster some kittens in their shops! We're very excited to be one of the local merchants partnering with DCAS on this project.

And now, without further ado, please put on your special kitten-viewing glasses. You're about to be blinded by cuteness.

So. much. adorableness.
These three babies joined us yesterday and we've been having a ball getting to know them. There are two girls and one boy, and DCAS says they're about seven weeks old. In the short time they've been here, we can already tell they each have very different personalities.

Awwwww.
Meet Merino, aka Dan Merino. He is a total love bug and his main hobby is purring as loudly as possible. He purrs while snuggling...while eating...while just hanging out. He's also a sassy little guy, eager to voice his opinion with a squeaky "mew!"

Have you passed out from cuteness yet?
This little munchkin is Pima. She's named after the world's finest cotton and is vying for the title of "world's finest kitten." She's the smallest of the litter, but judging by the amount of time she spends with her face in the kibble dish, she won't be a runt for long. And just look at those pretty stripes!

Kitten in motion!
Last but not least, here's D.K. (Darling Kitten? Devil Kitten? You decide!) She was the most difficult to photograph, because quite simply, she is far TOO BUSY to sit still long enough to pose for pictures. Whether climbing the shelves of her cage, pouncing on her siblings, or batting a toy around with her paw, this little sweetie-pie is a kitten on the go!

These babies will be staying with us until they find their forever homes. If you're interested in making one (or more) of them part of your family, you can fill out DCAS's adoption application (we can print one out for you at the shop). They'll be ready to go in about three weeks, after they're big enough to get spayed or neutered. In the meantime, they can be "pre-adopted" so your favorite can be reserved for you. The adoption fee is $75 and includes spaying/neutering and all shots that are needed up to the date of adoption. That's a real bargain for a lifetime of love!

Stop by and meet these cuties, and please spread the word to anyone you know who might be looking to bring a new furry friend (or two...or three) into their lives.

On The Needles: Sophisticated Hoodie in Tatamy

This is another (hopefully) inspiring post about an ill-fated project that has found a new lease on life.

Remember Carrie's quest for a black hooded cardigan? This was her first attempt, but after getting pretty far into the project, she realized she didn't like it. (Don't you HATE when that happens?)

So, the original version got frogged and now the yarn is getting a second chance. This time around, the pattern is Sally Melville's Sophisticated Hoodie.

Sophisticated Hoodie from Mother-Daughter Knits

Here's Carrie's hoodie in progress. To refresh your memory, the yarn is Kraemer's Tatamy, a soft yet crisp DK-weight cotton/acrylic blend that we absolutely love.

Tatamy's stitch definition really shows off the texture of this pattern.

Carrie says, "I've searched a long time for just the right pattern, and I think I've finally found it. This one had everything I wanted. I don't normally do projects that have to be seamed, but I like the construction of this so much that I'm willing to try it!"
