Maxima--new colors and patterns

It's always a happy day here when a big box of yarn arrives from Manos del Uruguay. Most recently, we've received our fall shipment of Maxima. Take a look....

Mmm...Maxima.

It's easy to see why Maxima is one of our best-selling yarns. The hand-dyed colors are gorgeous! We have a nice mix of old favorites and new colorways in stock. And the softness and warmth of this 100% extrafine merino make it a great choice for cold weather accessories.

If you need pattern ideas, Manos del Uruguay has you covered! Here are some brand new patterns they've just released. All of these call for Maxima, and they're all available here at Sheepish through our Ravelry pattern service.

The Antuco cowl comes in three different sizes, calling for one, two, or three skeins of Maxima. Part rib, part basketweave, this would be a great simple project for the new knitter who wants to practice working in the round and combining knits and purls.

Tromen is a stylish cowl knit in a brioche stitch, using two skeins of a neutral color and one skein of a bright to achieve a dramatic look.

And here's Calbuco, a cabled earflap hat that's equally cute and cozy with the pom-pom (two skeins) or without (one skein).

Buy these patterns through us, and your purchase will count toward your Sheepish reward points!

New: Perfection Lights

You asked for it, and we heard you! Customers have been asking for yarn with a bit of sparkle in it, and we think you'll really like this one.

Kraemer's Perfection continues to be one of our all-time most popular yarns, so we're really excited to be able to offer you Perfection Lights Worsted. Like its non-sparkly cousin, Perfection Lights is an easy care, classic worsted weight blend of superwash merino and acrylic, but with the addition of a tinsel-like polyester thread.

Here's a closer look at the colors we have in stock. The rich palette is, well, perfect for fall and winter knitting. What will you make with this yarn--a festive hat? elegant evening shawl or cowl? blinged-out Christmas stocking?

Perfection Lights Worsted comes in a 200-yard ball for $7.50.

"Fall" in love with fosters

Welcome to another installment of kitten cuteness! We're pleased to announce that two of our current four fosters have been pre-adopted. Now let's find homes for the other two.

Astor (left) is a fun-loving girl who has the biggest, prettiest eyes. Just look at that adorable face! She has beautiful swirled tabby markings and sweet little white paws.

Benson (or Benny, as we call him) was under the weather for a bit, but antibiotics perked him right up and now he just loves to play and explore! But his very favorite thing is to be held and cuddled. Benny has a nice loud purr to show you how happy he is. Honestly, he's just about the sweetest kitten we've ever fostered--and that's really saying something!

During the month of October, Dekalb County Animal Services is running a Fall In Love adoption event. That means all adoptions (including our fosters) are FREE. This includes spay/neuter, microchip, and up-to-date vaccines.

Wouldn't you like a new furry friend to snuggle on these chilly autumn evenings? Contact DCAS and apply to adopt Astor and/or Benson today!

New: Transitions yarn

Do you love yarns with loooooong color repeats? Are you a fan of fingering weight? If so, you'll be very excited about Transitions.

From Done Roving, the fine folks who make the popular Frolicking Feet sock yarn, Transitions is a pre-wound, 480-yd. cake of fingering weight, superwash wool. Each colorway has four transitions of color based on the Frolicking Feet colors.

The cake comes in this handy clear bowl so you can see all the beautiful colors, while still keeping your yarn clean and contained. The bowl has a hole to dispense the yarn through, so it sits still while you knit. Clever!

The fine gauge and long color repeats make this yarn an ideal choice for shawls. Done Roving has some stunning examples up on their web site. Hurry in to the shop and grab this great yarn for yourself, soon--people starting buying it straight out of the box before we even had a chance to price it or add it to our inventory system!

By the way, that box also contained our fall shipment of Frolicking Feet. Lots of new colors here, in addition to old favorites. Come and get 'em!
