Save The Date: 4th Annual Stash Sale

It's that time again! Time to empty your closets, dig under your bed, and search everywhere you may have hidden some yarn away "in case of emergency." Time to unload some things you're never going to use, and get some new goodies instead.

Some of the loot from last year's sale.

This year's Stash Sale will be held on August 9 & 10. You can drop off your items at the shop starting on Saturday, August 2, through Friday, August 8, at 4pm. We'll be having a Preview Party Friday night, August 8, for those of you who are selling stash to get first dibs on everyone's treasures. (August 8 also just happens to be Carrie's birthday--all the more reason for a party!)

If you've never participated in our Stash Sale before, or you've forgotten how it works, read our Google doc for all the details. Be sure to print out and sign the document and bring it with you when you drop off your stuff.

We hope you'll join us for the Stash Sale--it's always a lot of fun.

Summer sewing workshops

Our monthly sewing series with Chrissy Weeks continues!

Coming up on Thursday, July 24: make a cute, simple apron like the one on display in our window. This apron can be made in either adult or child size. Bring your machine and basic supplies listed here, and Chrissy will provide the pattern and assorted fabrics for you to choose from. Cost for this workshop is $25 (including pattern and fabric).

Looking ahead, on Thursday, August 28, Chrissy will be revisiting a popular topic: zippers and buttons. Learn how to select the right zipper for your project and how to insert it, how to operate your machine's button foot, and more! Bring your machine and basic sewing supplies listed here. Cost for this workshop is $22.

Sewing workshops take place 6:00 - 9:00pm. Register here, or save $2 per workshop by pre-paying with cash or check in person at the shop. All fees must be paid at the time of registration.

NEW: Pea Pods

Here's a lovely new yarn that arrived just in time for your summer knitting. This is Pea Pods, a 100% cotton yarn from Knit One Crochet Too. It has a thick-and-thin texture that resembles peas in a pod.

Pea Pods can be worked up at a variety of gauges to achieve different effects. K1C2 describes it as having "open texture at looser gauge, cobblestone texture at tighter gauge." The label recommends a size US 5-7 needle for 18-20 sts/4".

This yarn has great yardage--262 yds./100g ball for $14.50.

Need pattern inspiration? Check out this clever jacket Carrie made with Pea Pods.

It's the Warren 2-Way Jacket, which can be worn as a short jacket with a wide shawl collar (as shown), or turned upside-down to be worn as a longer garment with a fishtail hemline and a rolled lapel. Very cool!

Let us download this pattern for you, and you'll receive credit toward your Sheepish reward points.

Introducing...Albany, Augusta, Macon, & Raleigh

It's been a year since we started fostering kittens for Dekalb County Animal Services and we're proud to say we've helped find homes for 22 critters (and counting)! This latest litter joined us just yesterday.

We have two boys and two girls. They're six weeks old and all have beautiful tabby markings.

Look at those adorable little white paws on Macon (girl, left) and Raleigh (boy, right).

Sweet girl Augusta, the runt of the litter.

Baby boy Albany at the watering hole.

These cuties aren't big enough to be adopted yet, but they're available for pre-adoption if you would like to reserve your favorite(s). The $75 adoption fee goes to DCAS and includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, de-worming, microchip and combo test.

Stop by and meet them! They're all very friendly and would love to join your family.

Party at Sheepish

Trying to think of a unique idea for an upcoming birthday? Book a knitting lesson party with us!

Here are some photos from a recent party we hosted for a girl named Fiona who was turning eight years old. The birthday girl and five of her friends came to Sheepish on a Saturday afternoon and spent an hour learning to knit with us.

The guest of honor

Six new knitters!

The cost for a one-hour party is $30 per person, which includes the lesson, yarn, and needles. We encourage you to bring your own refreshments if you wish. Fiona's family brought pizza and popsicles.

These ladies are some of our youngest students, but why not consider a party like this for adults, too? And why limit the festivities to birthdays? Think about baby showers, or any occasion that calls for good times with friends.

Do you have an idea for a lesson party? Give us a call at 404-377-6875. We'd love to plan something fun with you!
